SHERMAN, Texas - Austin College Athletics is excited to announce the Modern Woodmen Fraternal Financial Student-Athlete of the Week, an award highlighting our great student-athletes on and off the field of play each week. This week's honoree is 'Roo men's tennis player Andres Padilla.

Padilla, a junior from League City, was second in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference in win percentage at line two singles this season, going 3-1 to lead the 'Roos. Padilla also excelled at number one doubles during the 2019 campaign, going 2-2 while paring with Calum Robe. His strong performances this year come on the heels of going 9-2 in singles competition in 2018, including 8-1 at line three, and teaming again with Robe to go 10-4 to help the 'Roos finish third in the conference last season. During his freshman season, Padilla racked up 13 singles victories, in addition to pairing with various partners for 13 additional wins in doubles competition. Padilla earned first team All-SCAC honors in 2017 and followed that up with honorable mention All-Conference accolades in 2018.
