AC Athletics Update 9/18, Mel Tjeerdsma Day vs. Hendrix 9/22 @ 12:45pm

Listen, #RooNation.  Let’s call it what it is.  You did a tremendous job packing the stands of the Hannah Natatorium to support our Men’s Water Polo Team in their historic first home game.  We always knew how much love #RooNation has for Austin College Athletics, but if we let it go without mentioning it, we would be doing you a disservice.

Thank you to all who supported us at home and abroad.  We have several more opportunities to support our Kangaroos this week, so let’s recap last weekend’s action, and get to the schedule.  This is the AC Athletics Update!

Football

Closing the deficit in the fourth quarter to 8, Austin College was not able to overcome a tough Sewanee squad on the road to open SAA play.

But we have great news for you, #RooNation.  Our Kangaroos are returning home for an historical occasion.  Hendrix invades Jerry Apple Stadium at 1:00PM on Saturday, September 22nd, when Austin College will honor Mel Tjeerdsma for his induction into the College Football Hall of Fame.

Tjeerdsma remains the winningest head coach in Austin College Football history, as well as the 10th winningest coach in NCAA Division II history.

Pack the stands this weekend, #RooNation.  Celebrate our history; our tradition of success in Athletics and pay homage to one of “the greats” as he gets the honor and recognition he deserves.

Below is the schedule of the events for all of the activities.  This will be a great day for all of us at Austin College, and especially for Mel Tjeerdsma.
