AC Athletics Update 3/22/2019

Welcome back from spring break, #RooNation.  Hopefully you feel rested, relaxed, and recharged to take on the home stretch of this academic year.

Several of our Athletic Teams used spring break as an opportunity to get additional competitions in, and play national schedules to represent Austin College to a greater demographic of collegiate institutions.

Men’s and Women’s Tennis traveled to Florida, Women’s Water Polo traveled to California, Baseball hosted Centenary, and Softball traveled to Shreveport to take on the Ladies.

There’s a lot to unpack in this edition of the AC Athletics Update, so let’s get started so we can preview the events upcoming this weekend.

Women’s Water Polo

After picking up the program’s first win in California over Connecticut College and facing three nationally ranked teams, our Kangaroos give us the moment we have been waiting for all spring…

Water Polo has returned to Sherman, TX.  Our Kangaroos will host Texas A&M in an exhibition match this Saturday at 10:00AM.  It’s the only opportunity to see our Water Polo team in action on campus this season, so make your way to Hannah Natatorium to see the ‘Roos vs. the Aggies.

  • Saturday, March 23rd, 2019
    • Home vs. Texas A&M @ 10:00AM

Baseball

Following the sweep-saving 4-2 victory at home over Centenary, Austin College may have found its stride heading into a road triple-header in Georgetown against the Pirates this Friday and Saturday.

AC (5-8, 1-2 SCAC) takes on Southwestern at 3:00PM and 6:00PM today, and again at 1:00PM tomorrow.  Video and live stats for the game are available via ACRoos.com, and you can stay advised to weather-related schedule changes via @ACSports.

Softball

The Kangaroos are back on the road in search of their first SCAC victory this weekend, travelling to Kerrville to face the Schreiner Mountaineers.  The games begin at 4:00PM and 6:00PM today, and 12:00PM and 2:00PM.  Video and live stats available at ACRoos.com and all weather updates will be communicated via @ACSports and @ACRoosSoftball.

Men’s & Women’s Tennis

While it seems like we have only just begun, AC Men’s and Women’s Tennis will be hosting their final home regular season competitions for 2019.  Tonight, March 22nd at 5:30PM, the Women look to avenge a 5-4 defeat to the Warhawks in 2018 at Smith Tennis Center, while the Men hope to make it 3-consecutive victories as West #6 Doubles Team Kenneth Hardy and Siddharth Kortikere face their opponent from the Fall ITA Regional Semi-Final Doubles Tournament.

A Men’s matchup against 9-time SCAC Champ Trinity at 9:00AM tomorrow, as the Tigers have never played a match in Sherman, TX.

In the afternoon, the Men and Women will attempt to face Schreiner at 2:00PM, both at Denison ISD’s Smith Tennis Center.  But changing weather conditions threaten the ability to play both of those matches, with limited opportunities to reschedule through the remaining weeks of the season.  Follow @ACRoosMWTennis for urgent schedule changes as they are finalized.

Please make an effort to come out to support our teams as they play in front of a Home Crowd for the last time before the SCAC Championships.
