AC Athletics Update, 1/17/2019

Happy Jan Term, #RooNation.  It has been a while since we have updated you on the “goings-on” with Austin College Athletics.  But do not fret, as we will catch you up on all the action that has transpired since your semester departure.

Most importantly, we hope that you are having a safe and enjoyable Jan Term that prepares you for the upcoming semester, and life after college.

Without further ado, this is all that you have missed and all you can look forward to in our first 2019 installment of the AC Athletics Update.

Women’s Basketball

Our Kangaroos went 7-2 over the break, compiling wins over 5 conference opponents, including a thrilling victory over Trinity at home.  Their current record is 12-3 (5-1 SCAC), sitting atop the SCAC standings with their only conference defeat coming in 2 Overtimes to Southwestern last weekend.

Tomorrow, Friday, January 18th, the ‘Roos will tip-off against Centenary in Shreveport, before coming back home to face the Ladies on Tuesday of next week.

Only SCAC opponents left on the schedule for the rest of the year, so let’s help AC make the push for another Conference Championship by supporting them down the stretch.

  • Friday, January 18th, 2019
    • Away vs. Centenary @ 5:30PM

Men’s Basketball

Our Men’s Basketball Team snagged 2 wins over SCAC opponents and 4 out of 9 games over the course of the last month.

Their record is 6-9 (2-4 SCAC), good for 6th place in the Conference standings as of today.  With two games in a row coming against Centenary (currently seated 5th in the standings), lets cheer on our Kangaroos to help overtake the Gents in the SCAC.

Men’s and Women’s Swimming & Diving

In their final home meet of the 2018-19 regular season, Austin College finished second with the Women’s Team and third with the Men’s Team at the AC Invite on January 5th.  The field included conference opponents Centenary and McMurry, as well as Oklahoma Christian University

The ‘Roos then travelled to Shreveport and fell to Centenary on both sides in their regular season finale in two closely contested meets.  Their next opportunity to compete will be in San Antonio, at the SCAC Championship Meet hosted by Trinity University.

The event will take place from February 13th – February 16th.  Keep working hard in the pool, Kangaroos.  We’re proud of the seasons you have had and we look forward to a lot of podium poses at the Conference Meet!
