Women's Cross Country Headed to NCAA Regionals

SHERMAN, Texas - The Austin College women's cross country team will be extending its postseason competition this weekend as the team heads to Newport News, Virginia to run in the NCAA DIII South/Southeast Region Championship.

Head coach Bryan Garcia will be taking his team, which finished fourth at the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship on October 21, to the event hosted by Christopher Newport University. The 'Roos fell just shy of earning third place in the conference meet, and runners Hannah Richards and Eden Llamas both placed in the top 20 at the event. Richards narrowly missed out on earning All-Conference, finishing 15th while the top 14 finishers are awarded All-Conference honors.

Like the SCAC Championship, the South/Southeast Regional will be a 6K event. Richards finished the conference meet with a time of 23:08, a new Austin College women's cross country program record and a personal best. Llamas came in with a personal best time of 23:24 at the conference championship, while Alex Quinn ran in 31st place with a time of 24:50.

The women's regional championship takes place this Saturday, November 11 with a start time of 12:15 p.m. Eastern. Results will be available on the official meet website.
