Women's XC Performs Well in Season Opener

TYLER, Tex. - The Austin College Women's Cross Country Team looked strong as they opened their season on the campus of the University of Texas at Tyler in the King Campbell Spectacular.

Two Kangaroos made their first career appearances, and two returners turned in stellar performances, solidifying a formidable team early in the season for Austin College.

Madison Galvan (Georgetown, TX) turned in a time of 12:30.5 for 4th best in the competition, while Haleigh Hahn and Emma Page (Phoenix, AZ) crossed the finish line at 8th and 9th with times of 13:03.8 and 13:05.9 respectively.

Alex Quinn looks to be running the fastest of her career with a 13:17.2 performance; good for 13th overall.  And last year's top finisher in the SCAC Championships, Eden Llamas, closed the day for the 'Roos with a 17th place time of 13:40.6.

With all runners finishing in the Top-20 this early in the season, it is exciting to see that Austin College Women's Cross Country can be a definite threat late in the season to the SCAC Standings.

Their next race will be at Our Lady of the Lake University on Saturday, September 10th, at 8:45am in Windcrest, Texas.
