Women's Cross Country Finishes 7th at SCAC Championship

The Austin College women's cross country team finished seventh at the 2013 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship Meet on Saturday morning in Shreveport. Several 'Roos set personal bests at the meet, led by a 40th place finish from Sally Humphries.

Humphries finished with a time of 27:29.8, nearly three minutes better than her time from the Centenary Invitational in October, held on the same course. Humphries also improved twenty spots overall from last season's championship. Also performing well was Sophie McDonald, who finished with a time of 28:07.3, while Zerlina Fung rounded out the top three for the 'Roos with a time of 28:13.7, shaving just under two minutes off of her time at the Centenary Invitational.

Naina Singh also had a strong showing at the meet, improving her time by 2:42 from the Centenary Invitational, while Laura Varnell shaved 1:41 off of her time, and Julie Coggins trimmed 2:05 off of her time. Amy Harvey had the biggest improvement from the Centenary Invitational, taking an incredible 6:28 off of her time at the previous event, finishing with a time of 30:35.3.

Overall, the average finishing time for the 'Roos at the SCAC Championship was 28:27.7, down from an average time of 32:40.4 at the Centenary Invitational.
