Wong Named CWPA Rookie of the Year

SHERMAN, Texas – Austin College women's water polo player Lexi Wong has been named the 2019 Collegiate Water Polo Association Division III Rookie of the Year, the organization has announced.

Wong, a freshman from Lantana, led the 'Roos to the CWPA Division III Championship game in the program's first year, marking the first time a program has advanced to the title game in its inaugural season. The attacker was twice named the CWPA Rookie of the Week this season, in addition to being named the top rookie at the CWPA Tournament. Wong was the CWPA Division III West Region Rookie of the Year, as well, after scoring 42 goals in Austin College's 17 games this season. In the team's first round victory in the conference tournament, she established a program record with eight goals scored.
