SHERMAN, Texas - The Austin College women's water polo dropped a pair of games against Concordia University-Irvine and Division III No. 10-ranked Occidental on Wednesday, bringing the 'Roos to 3-5 overall on the year.

Against Concordia, the 'Roos fell behind 6-0 after the first quarter and found themselves trailing 12-0 at halftime and were unable to climb out of that hole in the second half. The 'Roos got on the board with three goals in the third quarter to trim it to a 12-3 game before Concordia scored just before the end of the quarter, and the Eagles would maintain their 10-goal margin through four. Brooke Le and Lexi Wong each scored twice for Austin College, and Valery Piachonkina had six saves.

It was a defensive battle against No. 10-ranked Occidental, as the Tigers took a 3-1 lead after the first quarter and led Austin College 5-1 at halftime. The 'Roos would clamp down defensively after the half, though, not allowing a single goal in the third or fourth quarters, but a comeback bid came up just short as the 'Roos fell 5-4 in the game. Le scored twice and Wong and Presley Woods each tallied one goal in the defeat, while Piachonkina made six saves.

Austin College wraps up its trip through California on Saturday when they take on No. 5-ranked Redlands and No. 6-ranked Chapman.
