'Roos Get Senior Day Sweep

SHERMAN, Texas - The Austin College volleyball team picked up a pair of 3-0 sweeps as the 'Roos celebrated Senior Day, topping Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference foe Dallas and non-conference opponent Howard Payne on Saturday in Hughey Gym. The 'Roos are now 18-11 overall and 9-3 in conference play.

Austin College opened the day with a dominating victory over conference oppenent Dallas, winning by scores of 25-9, 25-13, 25-21, and hitting .308 as a team compared to .027 for the Crusaders. TJ Folse led the way with 14 kills while adding eight digs, and Rachel Sadler added nine kills in the match. Mattie Duncan had seven kills and four total blocks, and Samantha Graham chipped in six kills with a .545 hitting percentage. 

Brianne Tseng paced the 'Roos with 16 assists and added five digs, and Madison Manning had 15 assists. Laynie Kovacs led Austin College defensively with 24 digs, and Tatum Torres had nine. Marcette Williams led Dallas with six kills and Isa Swiatkowski had 14 digs.

The 'Roos wrapped up Senior Day with another three-set sweep, topping Howard Payne 25-19, 25-18, 25-17 behind nine kills and 10 digs from Folse, as well as eight kills each from Graham and Duncan. Duncan finished with a .429 attacking percentage, while Graham's was .412 in the victory. Duncan also finished the match with five block assists. Tseng led Austin College with 19 digs and added 18 assists, and Manning had a team-high 19 assists. Kovacs pitched in 16 digs and Torres had nine digs and three service aces. Tara Bennett led HPU with 13 kills and Makenzie Weddel had 17 digs.
