Austin College Outlasts Dallas in SCAC Quarterfinals

SEGUIN, Texas - The Austin College volleyball team held off the University of Dallas in the opening round of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament on Friday on the campus of Texas Lutheran, topping the Crusaders 3-2 to advance to the semifinals against Trinity. The 'Roos are now 17-21 overall this season.

The 'Roos jumped on top early, taking the first set 25-19 before UD evened things up with a 25-20 set two victory. Austin College took set three 25-21 before Dallas once again squared things up, taking the fourth set 25-14 to force a fifth set. The 'Roos went ahead 14-11 in the fifth set before the Crusaders cut it to 14-13, but Christine Royalty put the match away with a kill to make it 15-13 and clinch the win.

Royalty led the 'Roos with 14 kills and a .409 hitting percentage, and Karson Dykes had 12 kills in the win. Kynleigh Browne had 10 kills and nine total blocks in the match, and Brooklyn Talley had 29 assists and seven digs. Mari Prazak led the 'Roos with 20 digs, while Hannah Arbaugh added 15 digs and Allison Pierce added 15 assists. 

The No. 5-seeded 'Roos will now advance to take on top-seeded Trinity tomorrow at noon.
