Volleyball Falls in Five to Southwestern

IRVING, Texas - The Austin College volleyball took No. 3-seed Southwestern all the way to a fifth set but came up short, falling to the Pirates 3-2 on Friday in quarterfinal action at the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament. The 'Roos are now 16-17 as they head into Saturday's season-ending 5th/6th place match against Centenary.

The 'Roos dropped the first set 25-20 before bouncing back with a 25-18 second set victory, but the Pirates were dominant in the third, taking it 25-13. However, the 'Roos battled back and won the fourth set 27-25 before dropping the fifth 15-6. Mayson Kennon had 12 kills for Austin College and Brooke Harris added nine. Caitlin Mahoney had a strong performance with eight kills and six total blocks, and Karson Dykes added seven kills and four block assists. Brooklyn Talley had 21 assists and 11 digs, and Mari Prazak had 26 digs to lead the 'Roos.
