'Roos Fall to Centenary and Southwestern

SHERMAN, Texas –The Austin College volleyball team dropped both of its matches at the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Divisional hosted in Hughey Gym on Saturday, falling 3-1 to Centenary and 3-0 to Southwestern. The 'Roos are now 13-14 overall on the year and 5-7 in conference play.

The 'Roos dropped the first set against Centenary 28-26, and after taking the second set 25-20, the Ladies held off the 'Roos for a 32-30 win in set three. Centenary would go on to win the fourth set 25-23 to clinch the match. Mayson Kennon had 17 kills to lead Austin College, and Aelyn Rodriguez added 13. Brooke Harris chipped in 10 kills, while Brooklyn Talley had 33 assists and 12 digs. Mari Prazak led the 'Roos with 24 digs, and Kristen Massey had eight kills and eight total blocks in the loss.

Against Southwestern, the 'Roos and Pirates battled closely in the first two matches with Southwestern winning 25-20 and 25-23 to take a 2-0 lead. In the third set after Austin College pulled to within four at 16-12, but the Pirates scored the final nine points of the match to make it a 25-12 final. Christine Royalty led Austin College with seven kills and added four total blocks, while Talley and Sam Fawcett each had 12 assists. Prazak once again paced the 'Roos with 17 digs. 

Austin College is back in Hughey Gym one more time this season, as the 'Roos will host Arlington Baptist on Thursday at 6:00 p.m. for Senior Night.
