'Roos Split with Johnson & Wales and Colorado College

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Austin College volleyball team split its two Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference matches on Friday, topping Johnson & Wales 3-1 before falling 3-2 to No. 5-ranked Colorado College. The 'Roos are now 12-10 overall and 4-4 in conference play.

The 'Roos took the first set against JWU 25-23 before falling 26-24 in the second set, but two straight wins - both by scores of 25-23 - gave Austin College the victory. Mayson Kennon paced the 'Roos with 14 kills and added 15 digs, and Kristen Massey had 12 kills and five block assists. Aelyn Rodriguez added 11 kills in the win, while Brooklyn Talley led the 'Roos with 29 assists and 20 digs.

In the second match of the day, the 'Roos got out to a 2-0 lead over the nationally ranked Tigers, winning 25-23 in both sets before Colorado College stormed back with 25-13 and 25-6 wins in the next two sets to even things up. The Tigers went on to earn a 17-15 fifth set victory to topple the 'Roos. Kennon again led the way with 11 kills, and Rodriguez added nine. Talley had 23 assists and Mari Prazak had 21 digs for Austin College.

The 'Roos are back in action on Saturday as they take on the University of Dallas and Southwestern.
