'Roos Take One of Three at SCAC Crossover

GEORGETOWN, Texas - The Austin College volleyball team fell to Dallas and Colorado College on Saturday before bouncing back with a 3-0 victory over Johnson & Wales on Sunday afternoon. The 'Roos are now 8-6 overall and 3-3 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play.

On Saturday, the 'Roos started the weekend with a 3-0 loss to the Crusaders, who won by scores of 25-22, 25-19, 26-24. Aelyn Rodriguez led the 'Roos with 11 kills and a .364 hitting percentage, but Austin College hit just .145 as a team with 14 attacking errors in the final two sets combined. The 'Roos also had eight service errors against two serice aces in the match. Brooklyn Talley had 15 assists and Mari Prazak had 12 digs to lead the 'Roos.

Austin College took on No. 2-ranked Colorado College next, dropping the match 25-15, 25-14, 25-20 to the Tigers. Brooke Harris and Christine Royalty each had six kills to pace the 'Roos, who hit .117 as a team compared to a .424 hitting percentage for Colorado College. Talley again led the way with 14 assists, and Prazak had eight digs. Harris added seven digs in the match.

The 'Roos rebounded on Sunday with a convincing victory over Johnson & Wales, winning 25-17, 25-19, 25-20. Mayson Kennon and Harris led a balanced attack with six kills each, and Talley and Sam Fawcett each had 15 assists. Prazak once again led the 'Roos with 16 digs, and Royalty had seven total blocks, as well as two service aces and five kills.

Austin College is back home on Tuesday when they host a tri-match with Ouachita Baptist and Howard Payne beginning at 3:00 p.m. in Hughey Gym.
