'Roo Volleybal Splits on Day One of SCAC Cross-Divisional

SEGUIN, Texas - The Austin College volleyball team fell to No. 4-ranked Trinity 3-1 but bounced back with a 3-0 sweep of Schreiner on day one of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Cross-Divisional on Saturday. The 'Roos are now 14-4 overall and 3-2 in SCAC play.

The 'Roos battled against Trinity in their first match of the day, falling 25-19 and 25-15 in the first two sets before winning 27-25 in the third set. However, the Tigers held off the 'Roos 25-23 in the fourth set to take the match. Dani DeWitt had 13 kills with only three attacking errors to pace Austin College, and Mayson Kennon added 12 kills. Katie Ingle had 24 assists and 15 digs, and Madi McVay had 20 digs to lead Austin College. McVay and Tatiana Ferrari each added two service aces in the loss.

In the second match of the day, the 'Roos topped Schreiner in three sets by scores of 25-19, 25-21, 26-24 behind 10 kills from DeWitt and nine kills from Hannah Arbaugh. Arbaugh had only one attacking error and added 10 digs. Ingle once again paced the 'Roos with 27 assists and added 10 digs, and Ferrari had 21 digs and three service aces.
