Volleyball Holds Off SAGU in Five Set Win

SHERMAN, Texas – The Austin College volleyball team got out to a two set lead but had to fight off Southwestern Assemblies of God University as the Lions battled back to force a fifth set, where the 'Roos were able to emerge with the victory. The 'Roos are now 13-3 overall on the year with the win.

The 'Roos took the first set 25-17 before getting a 25-22 win in set two, but SAGU battled to a 25-23 win in the third set and carried that momentum into the fourth, where they won 25-17. Austin College was able to gain back the momentum in the fifth set, however, taking a 15-11 win to clinch the match.

Mayson Kennon had 15 kills for Austin College and Dani DeWitt added 11 while adding 10 digs, and Katie Ingle paced the 'Roos with 35 assists and 19 digs while adding five kills of her own. Brooke Harris added 11 kills and Rebekah Bowden had eight, and Tatiana Ferrari and Madi McVay each reached double-digits in digs with 17 and 12, respectively.

Austin College gets back into Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play this weekend as they head to Seguin to take on No. 4-ranked Trinity as well as Schreiner on Saturday, and then host school Texas Lutheran and No. 5-ranked Southwestern on Sunday.
