'Roo Volleyball Closes SCAC Divisional Strong

SHERMAN, Texas – The Austin College volleyball team finished up the first weekend of Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference with a convincing victory over the University of Dallas, sweeping the Crusaders 3-0. The 'Roos are now 12-3 overall and 2-1 in conference play.

Austin College battled the Crusaders in the first match before pulling away for a 25-16 win and added a 25-14 win in set two. The 'Roos then sprinted out to a 10-0 lead in set three, eventually building to an 18-1 lead and ultimately a dominant 25-2 victory to complete the sweep. Rebekah Bowden was one of three Austin College players to boast a hitting percentage of better than .500, totaling nine kills and a team-best .562 hitting percentage.

Brooke Harris added eight kills and a .538 hitting percentage, and Dakota Jeffcoat had seven kills with a .538 hitting percentage. As a team, the 'Roos hit .343 in the match with only four attacking errors collectively. Katie Ingle had 27 assists and 12 digs, and Tatiana Ferrari had a match-best 24 digs in the victory. Bowden also added two block solos and five block assists for the 'Roos.

Austin College athletic teams participate as a member of the NCAA Division III and the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
