'Roo Volleyball Splits on Day One of SCAC Divisional

SHERMAN, Texas – The Austin College volleyball team opened the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference slate with a 3-0 victory over Centenary, but the 'Roos would close out day one of the SCAC Divisional with a 3-0 loss to No. 3-ranked Colorado College. The 'Roos are now 11-3 overall and 1-1 in SCAC play.

Austin College used a .326 team hitting percentage to cruise to a three set win over Centenary, with Rebekah Bowden registering 10 kills with a .588 hitting percentage to lead the way. Austin College earned a 25-11, 25-15, 25-13 win, with Mayson Kennon adding 10 kills. Bowden had four total blocks, and Katie Ingle had 18 assists and seven digs in the win. Madi McVay led the 'Roos with 13 digs.

In the second match of the day, the 'Roos came out strong against Colorado College but ultimately fell 25-18, 25-15, 25-18 as the Tigers had a .324 team hitting percentage, compared to .165 for Austin College. Kennon and Hannah Arbaugh each had eight kills for Austin College, while Dani DeWitt had six. McVay had 11 digs to once again lead Austin College, and Ingle had 20 assists.

Austin College wraps up the SCAC Divisional tomorrow with a 1:00 p.m. match against the University of Dallas in Hughey Gym.
