Volleyball Falls to Trinity and No. 5 Southwestern

SHERMAN, Texas – The Austin College volleyball team fell in its final two Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Cross-Divisional matches on Sunday, dropping a 3-0 decision against Trinity before falling 3-1 against No. 5-ranked Southwestern. The 'Roos are now 11-7 overall and 4-3 in conference play.

The 'Roos started out strong in both matches, dropping the first set to Trinity 26-24 before falling 25-23 in the second set. Trinity would close out the match with a 25-16 third set win over the 'Roos. Rebekah Bowden, Presleigh Watson, and Madison Lee all had eight kills in the match, while Katie Ingle had 25 assists and eight digs. Madi McVay led Austin College with 19 digs, and Tatiana Ferrari added 14. Bowden and Aelyn Rodriguez each had five total blocks.

Against Southwestern, the 'Roos took a 25-17 first set victory over the Pirates but would fall 25-20 in each of the next three sets. Lee and Bowden each had 14 kills and Dani DeWitt added 11 in the loss, while Ingle had 46 assists and a team-best 21 digs. McVay added 15 digs, while Watson had nine kills and three total blocks for Austin College. The 'Roos boasted a .417 hitting percentage in their first set victory, but would fail to get above .135 hitting as a team in any of the final three sets.

Austin College athletic teams participate as a member of the NCAA Division III and the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
