'Roo Volleyball Sweeps TLU and Schreiner

SHERMAN, Texas – The Austin College volleyball team cruised to a pair of 3-0 victories over Texas Lutheran and Schreiner on day one of this weekend's Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Cross-Divisional. The 'Roos, who are hosting the event, are now 11-5 overall and 4-1 in conference play.

The 'Roos picked up their 10th win of the season in the first match of the day, topping Texas Lutheran 25-19, 25-19, 25-14 thanks to a .376 team hitting percentage. Rebekah Bowden and Presleigh Watson were both dominant on offense, with Bowden registering 15 kills with a .667 hitting percentage and Watson adding 12 kills and a .550 hitting percentage.

Dani DeWitt added 10 kills, while Katie Ingle had 41 assists and eight digs in the victory. Madi McVay had 13 digs to lead Austin College defensively, while Bowden had three total blocks.

In the final match of the day, Austin College got out to a hot start with a 25-15 first set win over Schreiner before coming from behind for a 25-21 second set win. Austin College closed out the match with a 25-17 win in set three to earn the sweep. Once again, Austin College used an outstanding hitting percentage, this time hitting .336 as a team.

Watson had 11 kills and Bowden had 10, and Madison Lee had nine kills in the win. Ingle once again led the way with 36 assists, and McVay had 13 digs and Tatiana Ferrari added 12.

Austin College will be back in action tomorrow when they take on Trinity and No. 5-ranked Southwestern on day two of the SCAC Cross-Divisional.
