'Roos Topple Dallas and Centenary to Reach 700 Win Plateau

The Austin College volleyball team reached an historic milestone in Colorado Springs on Saturday, defeating Dallas and Centenary to reach 700 all-time victories in the program's 40th year as a varsity sport. The 'Roos topped Dallas 3-2 and Centenary 3-0.

The 'Roos kicked off the day with a hard-fought, five set victory over the Crusaders. Austin College took set one 25-17, but Dallas stormed back with a 25-21 victory to square things up. After the 'Roos won set three 25-19, UD took the fourth set 25-22. However, Austin College earned a 15-13 victory in the decisive fifth set to win the match.

Rebekah Bowden had 16 kills and six block assists to lead the way, boasting a .366 hitting percentage in the victory. Presleigh Watson had 13 kills and eight total blocks, and Madison Lee had 13 kills as well. Madi McVay had 25 digs, and Katie Ingle paced the 'Roos with 48 assists while adding 17 digs. 

In the second match of the day for the 'Roos, Austin College had a much easier time with Centenary in a 25-16, 25-18, 25-13 victory to reach the 700 win mark. The 'Roos used a .375 team hitting percentage, includig a .524 percentage in the third set, to get the win. Watson had 11 kills in 17 attacks with zero errors, for a .647 hitting percentage. Bowden had nine kills with no errors, and Ingle had 30 assists in the win. McVay once again led the 'Roos defensively with 13 digs.
