Volleyball Splits with No. 19 Hendrix and Cortland

SHERMAN, Texas – The Austin College volleyball team fell 3-0 to No. 19-ranked Hendrix College, but bounced back with a 3-0 victory over Cortland on Friday evening at the 15th Annual Austin College Invitational. The 'Roos are now 5-3 overall on the year. 

In the first match, the Warriors got out to a fast start with a 25-14 first set win. Austin College would challenge in the second and third sets, but were unable to overcome a strong Hendrix effort. The 'Roos had just a .078 team hitting percentage in the loss. Madison Lee, Dani DeWitt, and Rebekah Bowden each had six kills for Austin College. Katie Ingle had 19 assists and 12 digs, and Madi McVay added 12 digs.

The 'Roos rebounded in a big way with a dominant victory over Cortland, winning by scores of 25-17, 25-17, and 25-13. Austin College boasted a .324 hitting percentage in the match, with Bowden registering 12 kills in 15 attempts with zero hitting errors. Kelsey Lillis had nine kills, and Lee and Watson each had eight. Ingle finished the match with 39 assists and 10 digs, and McVay had 17 digs for the 'Roos.

Austin College athletic teams participate as a member of the NCAA Division III and the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
