'Roo Volleyball Drops Pair at SCAC Cross-Divisional

The Austin College volleyball team dropped a pair of tough matches on Saturday afternoon, falling 3-0 to No. 18-ranked Southwestern before dropping a 3-1 match against host school Trinity University in San Antonio. The 'Roos are now 10-6 overall and 2-3 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play.

In the opening match of the weekend against the Pirates, the 'Roos fell by scores of 25-15, 25-14, 25-16. Rebekah Bowden had eight kills and three total blocks to lead the way for Austin College, and Presleigh Watson and Reygan Holloman each had six kills. Rachel Fusselman had 14 digs, and Katie Ingle had 14 assists and 12 digs.

The 'Roos split the first two sets against Trinity in the final match of the day, falling 25-15 before taking set two 25-22, but the Tigers responded by winning sets three and four by scores of 25-17 and 25-18. Once again Bowden led the way, finishing with 10 kills and a .391 hitting percentage, adding five total blocks in the match. Watson and Holloman each had seven kills, and Fusselman had 15 digs. Ingle had 20 assists to go along with five kills and nine digs.

Austin College will be looking to bounce back on Sunday as they take on Schreiner University and Texas Lutheran.
