'Roo Volleyball Moves to 5-0 with Three More Wins at AC Invitational

The Austin College volleyball team picked up a trio of victories on day two of the 15th Annual Austin College Invitational, bringing the team's record to 5-0 on the year. This is the first time since 2010 that the 'Roos have opened the year with five wins.

The 'Roos opened the day with a hard fought 3-2 victory over Sul Ross State, winning by scores of 25-23, 24-26, 25-18, 15-25, 18-16 behind 11 kills and seven block assists from Rebecca Franklin. Madison Lee finished with eight kills and nine digs, and Presleigh Watson was dominant in the middle with eight kills, three block solos, and nine block assists. Lauren Wulz had 26 assists and Rachel Fusselman had 31 digs.

In the team's second match of the day against Dallas Christian, the 'Roos went back and forth with the Crusaders before pulling out a 32-30 win in game one and cruised from there, taking game two 25-10 and the third set 25-16. Watson had another outstanding game with 10 kills in 11 attacks, and added six block assists. Wulz had 17 assists and Fusselman had a team-best nine digs in the victory.

Austin College finished out the day with a 3-0 win over Huston-Tillotson, winning by scores of 25-15, 25-13, 25-19 to stay unbeaten over the season's opening weekend. Lee and Franklin each had seven kills in the match, while Reygan Holloman and Kelsey Lillis added six each. Watson had four kills in five attacks. Wulz once again led the way with 25 assists and added five digs, while Fusselman notched a match-high 16 digs in the victory.

Austin College athletic teams participate as a member of the NCAA Division III and the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
