Volleyball Splits on Day One of SCAC Divisional

The Austin College volleyball team split its two matches on the first day of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Cross-Divisional on Saturday, topping Texas Lutheran 3-2 before falling to No. 19-ranked Trinity 3-0. The 'Roos are now 17-16 overall and 4-8 in conference play.

The 'Roos earned a hard fought victory in the first match of the day by topping TLU 25-23, 24-26, 25-15, 23-25, 16-14 behind 22 kills and 23 digs from Shelby Eaves. Madison Lee added 12 kills and seven digs and Presleigh Watson had 10 kills and six total blocks. Kelsey Klingler had 46 assists and both Alyse Magnuson and Rachel Fusselman had 18 digs.

Against the Tigers, the 'Roos got out to an early lead before Trinity took control on their way to handing Austin College a 17-25, 16-25, 18-25 loss to finish the first day of matches. Eaves had 10 kills and 13 digs and Fusselman had 17 digs, while Klingler finished with 23 assists and eight digs in the loss.

The 'Roos wrap up the weekend tomorrow when they take on Schreiner at 12:00 p.m. and Southwestern at 4:00 p.m.

Austin College athletic teams participate as a member of the NCAA Division III and the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
