'Roo Volleyball Drops Pair to Open Season

The Austin College volleyball team dropped its first two matches of the season at the Averett Cougar Classic on Saturday, falling by scores of 3-1 in both matches. The 'Roos are 0-2 as they head into day two of the tournament tomorrow.

In the first match of the day against William Peace University, the 'Roos fell 25-17, 23-25, 23-25, 18-25. Shelby Eaves had 18 kills and added 13 digs, leading the team in both categories, while Kelsey Klingler had 35 assists. Alyson Hicks had nine kills and Rachel Fusselman had 11 digs in the loss.

In the second match against tournament host Averett, the 'Roos fell 25-22, 20-25, 19-25, 15-25 despite another 18 kills from Eaves. Klingler had 40 assists in the loss, while Reygan Holloman registered 10 kills, Bekah Newberry added nine, and Fusselman led the team with 10 digs.
