'Roo Tennis Falls to Trinity, Concordia, and Southwestern to Open Season
GEORGETOWN, Texas - The Austin College men's and women's tennis teams opened up their 2025 spring campaign on Friday and Saturday, with the women falling to Trinity, Concordia (Texas), and Southwestern by scores of 7-0 while the men fell 7-0 to Concordia and Southwestern.

GEORGETOWN, Texas - The Austin College men's and women's tennis teams opened up their 2025 spring campaign on Friday and Saturday, with the women falling to Trinity, Concordia (Texas), and Southwestern by scores of 7-0 while the men fell 7-0 to Concordia and Southwestern.
The 'Roo women opened up play early on Friday afternoon against Trinity, falling in each of the team's doubles matches, as Olivia Sanchez and Natalie Valle competed on line one while Bailey Standokes and Emma Davidson were on line two, with each team falling 6-0. Karsyn Clouse and Lauren Hofeldt battled but came up short in a 6-2 decision playing number three doubles.
Standokes dropped a 1-6, 1-6 line one singles match, while Sanchez was bested 3-6, 1-6 on line two, and Valle went down by scores of 0-6, 0-6 on line three. Clouse dropped her line four singles match 1-6, 2-6, Davidson fell 0-6, 0-6 on line five, and Hofeldt was defeated 1-6, 2-6 at line six.
In the women's team's second match of the day, Sanchez and Valle fell 6-1 on line one in doubles while Standokes and Davidson dropped a 6-0 line two match, and Clouse and Hofeldt were downed 6-1 on line three.
Sanchez competed on line one in singles play, falling 1-6, 0-6, while Valle was defeated 0-6, 3-6 on line two and Standokes dropped a 2-6, 0-6 match on line three. Davidson lost a 2-6, 2-6 line four match, while Clouse and Hofeldt each dropped 1-6, 3-6 matches on lines five and six.
The 'Roo women wrapped up their weekend on Saturday morning against the Pirates, as Sanchez and Valle lost 6-0 on line one in doubles play while Standokes and Davidson fell 6-1 and Clouse and Hofeldt were defeated 6-2 on lines two and three, respectively.
Standokes was back playing number one singles in the match, falling 1-6, 0-6, while Sanchez was defeated 2-6, 1-6 on line two and Valle lost a 0-6, 0-6 line three match and Clouse fell 0-6, 1-6 on line four. Davidson also dropped a 0-6, 1-6 match playing number five singles, and Hofeldt was topped 2-6, 1-6.
In the men's match against Concordia on Friday, Trey Salyer lost 2-6, 4-6 against a regionally-ranked opponent on line one, and Patrick Fenner was defeated 1-6, 0-6 on line two. Cruz Rocha dropped a 2-6, 3-6 match on line three, and Joel Colunga fell 1-6, 0-6 on line four, with Concordia winning the other matches to clinch the win by default.
On Saturday morning, the duo of Salyer and Fenner fell 6-2 on line one in doubles play and Rocha and Colunga were topped 6-1 on line two, with line three going to Southwestern by default. Salyer fell 2-6, 1-6 on line one in singles play, Fenner lost a 0-6, 1-6 line two match, and Rocha was bested 1-6, 0-6 on line three.
