SHERMAN, Tex. - It was a hard-fought affair, but when the dust settled, the Southwestern Pirates Women's Tennis Team defeated Austin College 5-0 on their home tennis courts in the SCAC Tournament Semi-Finals.
Line 1 Doubles was the pivotal match of the event, as Diana Carvajalino and Melody Duong, ranked #11 in the West Region Doubles Rankings, fell to #12 Cecile Wilde & Esther Bowers 8-6, completing the sweep of all three doubles matches for the Pirates.
Melody Duong fell 6-1, 6-0 at Line 1 singles, and Diana Carvajalino found her rhythm in her second set, but dropped a 6-0, 6-4 decision at Line 2.
Austin College returns to the courts on Sunday, April 21st in Denison, TX to decide 3rd place in the SCAC against the Schreiner Mountaineers.
