Women's Tennis Blanks TLU 9-0

SEGUIN, Tex. - Austin College Womens Tennis recorded a victory over the Texas Lutheran Bulldogs in dominant fashion as the 'Roos consolidated a doubles sweep with six straight singles victories for an unblemished result.

In 2015, the Bulldogs defeated the 'Roos 7-2, and in 2016, TLU compiled a pair of victories over Austin College; 6-3 in Sherman, and 5-1 for 5th place in the Conference Tournament.  This year's match was one of a compeletely different feel.

The Women's Team was able to bounce back convincingly from their 0-3 start against Colorado College from the night before and take Lines 1-3 doubles 8-5, 8-4, and 8-4 respectively.

Grace Ortiz put the 'Roos up 4-0 with a quick 6-1, 6-0 victory at Line 3, while Anna Sergiovanni fought back from down 4-1 to a 6-4, 6-2 victory for the clinching point.

Katie Seibert won a tremendously competitive first set over her Line 4 adversary, and never looked back with a 6-0 second set victory.

Both Kirsten Weber and Magan Green would win their first sets and would play third-set super tiebreakers to decide the outcome over their matches against TLU.  Weber would win 10-4 and Green would finish 10-2 just after Carlye Lide rolled to a straight set victory at Line 6.

Austin College will travel to Trinity today at 3:30pm for their regular season finale at the Butch Newman Varsity Tennis Cener.
