Comeback Bid Falls Short for Women's Tennis

SAN ANTONIO, Tex. - It was a late night for the Austin College Women's Tennis Team, as the Kangaroos battled the tigers of Colorado College until 11pm on the courts of the University of Texas at San Antonio.

The 'Roos got off to a rough start, dropping all 3 doubles matches, including a 7-4 lead at Line 1.  But Austin College would not be deterred, taking Line 3 singles with Grace Ortiz, and splitting at Lines 1, 2, and 5 to keep the match hanging in the balance.

The Kangaroos would win all three of those 3-set matches; Anna Sergiovanni victorious at Line 2, Magan Green in a 13-11 marathon in a tiebreaker at the end of the third set, and Kirsten Weber at Line 1 in a super-tiebreaker after the match had reached a decision.

Alas the Tigers would win the necessary two courts to defeat AC at Lines 4 and 6, but not before the crew from Sherman, Texas did some significant damage.  Austin College returns to the tennis courts in Seguin, Texas against Texas Lutheran University at 9am.
