Kangaroo Women's Tennis Cruises Past UMHB 9-0

SHERMAN, Tex. - In the second match of four, the Austin College Women's Tennis Team collected their second victory, defeating the Crusaders of Mary Hardin-Baylor 9-0.

It was a cold morning, and with several players feeling "under-the-weather," it would take a mountainous effort to defeat a tough Cru squad.  Not only did the Kangaroos summon the effort necessary, but they went above and beyond to get the job done spotlessly.

Doubles would come easy for the 'Roos at Lines 1 and 3, but an accidental injury to a visiting player would force the Crusaders to retire at #2 doubles.  Thankfully the player would be able to return for singles competition.

After the doubles sweep, Lines 2-6 came relatively easily for the Kangaroo Women's Tennis Players, dropping a total of 5 games between the 5 matches.

Kirsten Weber, battling a respiratory illness, would drop the first set of her Line 1 Singles match to Montgomery of UMHB in a tiebreaker.  Weber would continue to fight, and took the 2nd set 6-4, forcing a super-tiebreaker for the third set.

Weber would acquire the strength necessary to win the match 10-5 in the deciding tiebreaker, completing the sweep of the Crusaders.

Austin College returns to the courts later today vs. UT-Tyler.  The match is scheduled to begin at 4:00pm
