TYLER, Tex. - With weather delays setting the matches back to almost noon, the Austin College Lady Kangaroos were finally able to square off agains the UT-Tyler Patriots.
Meghan White and Carlye Lide would give Line 2 Doubles for the Patriots all it could handle, but the aggressive ballstriking of the hosts would prove to be too much for the 'Roos this time, sweeping 3-0 moving into singles play.
The Pats would not stop there, as they took 5 of the 6 singles lines in straight sets, with the exception of Line 3 and co-Captain Grace Ortiz. Ortiz would drop a closely contested first set 7-5 after battling back from down 5-2.
"We always practice match-play situations like that," said Coach Dodd. "So that when you come back from something like that, you know you can do it again come match-time."
Unfortunately Ortiz would fall 10-4 in the deciding, third-set tiebreaker, for a final result of 5-7, 6-4, 1-0 (10-4).
The Lady 'Roos will now head to Longview, TX to take on the LeTourneau University Yellow Jackets. First serve was scheduled for 3pm, but the match time has been changed to TBD. All updates can be found by going to the team's Social Media Accounts - @ACRoosMWTennis.
