Austin College Swimming Splits at McMurry

ABILENE, Texas - The Austin College men's and women's swimming teams split their meet at McMurry University on Saturday, with the women winning 148-62 while the men fell 170-71.

The women got off to a strong start as the team of Chloe Hunt, Samantha Thiele, Liberty Chanin, and Eleanna Martinez took first in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:43.40. Chanin added a first place finish in the 1000 free, touching with a time of 11:28.22 in the event. Thiele and Hunt took first and second in the 100 back, with Thiele coming in with a time of 1:02.77 while Hunt finished exactly four seconds later. Zuni Rubio took first in the 100 breaststroke, finishing with a time of 1:21.33, and Hunt finished the 50 free with a time of 27.65 to add a first place finish.

Sean Cookson brought home a first place finish in the 50 free for the men as well, coming in with a time of 23.32, winning by just a hundredth of a second. Max Saenz swam the 100 freestyle in a time of 49.76, which was also good for first place, and back on the women's side Thiele added another first place finish with a time of 2:30.13 in the 200 breaststroke. Chanin delivered another first place finish in the 500 free, touching with a time of 5:40.13, and Hunt was first in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:05.66. 

Saenz added another first place finish in that same event on the men's side, coming in with a time of 53.75, and the women's team of Thiele, Martinez, Phoebe Nguyen, and Chanin wrapped up the day with a first place time of 1:49.30 in the 200 free relay.
