'Roo Men Take 3rd at AC Invite, Women Place 4th

SHERMAN, Texas - The Austin College swimming and diving teams performed well at the Austin College Invite, with the men finishing third and the women placing fourth out of seven teams in a field that included multiple NCAA Division II opponents.

The men finished with an overall team score of 413 behind only Division II programs Oklahoma Christian University and the University of Texas Permian Basin, and the women scored 266 points, coming in behind OCU, UTPB, and Centenary College. Ethan Nguyen picked up a first place finish for the men, coming in with a time of 59.64 in the 100 breaststroke. Nguyen added a third place finish in the 100 individual medley, touching with a time of 55.29.

David Mowles added a pair of second place finishes for the men with a time of 5:02.67 in the 500 freestyle and 1:48.39 in the 200 free. Cade Griffith added a third place finish in the 50 free with a time of 22.72, and Charles Smith was third in the 200 free with a time of 1:48.92, touching just after Mowles. 

On the women's side, Liberty Chanin continued her outstanding rookie year with the program with a second place finish in the 500 free, coming in with a time of 5:30.42, and she added a sixth place finish in the 200 freestyle.
