'Roo Men and Women Finish Fifth at SCAC Championships

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - Both the Austin College men's and women's swimming and diving teams wrapped up the 2019 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship Meet with fifth place finishes, as the meet came to a close on Saturday night.

Leading the way on day four of the championship on the women's side was the relay team of Chloe Hunt, Sophie Garriga, Lexi Wong, and Brooke Le, who set a new program record in the 400 free relay with a time of 3:48.83. That tops the previous best time, set in 1997, by more than four seconds and was good for a fifth place finish at the meet. The men added a sixth place finish in the 400 free relay, with the team of Max Saenz, Tanner O'Dwyer, Charles Smith, and Chris Brown swimming a time of 3:17.16.

Colton Baker placed sixth in the 1-meter diving event, while Nicole Massaro added an eighth place finish in the 1-meter dive on the women's side. Garriga added a seventh place finish in the 200 butterfly and Hunt was eighth in the 100 freestyle.
