'Roo Women Remain in 6th Heading Into Final Day at SCAC Championship

THE COLONY, Texas - The Austin College women's swimming and diving team held steady in sixth place after the third day of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship Meet on Friday night at the Lewisville Eastside Aquatic Center.

Sophie Garriga placed seventh in the 400 individual medley for the 'Roos, touching with a time of 4:56.29 in the first event of the day. The 'Roos also got a strong performance in the 400 medley relay, with Garriga being joined by Jennifer Liang, Mandi Sarembock, and Katie Voelkel for a sixth place finish with a time of 4:39.68. The team of Matea Stanisic, Brittany Maynard, Sarah Edzards, and Mary Cheadle also earned points for Austin College with an 11th place finish after coming in with a time of 5:00.44 in the 400 medley relay.

Liang added a 16th place finish in the 100 backstroke, and Sarembock and Maynard placed 15th and 16th, respectively, in the 100 breaststroke to add to Austin College's point total for the meet. The 'Roos head into the final day of competition with 137 total points.
