Women's Swimming Draws with Centenary in Regular Season Finale

SHREVEPORT, La. - The Austin College women's swimming and diving team went on the road for its final meet before next month's Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship, finishing with a 79-79 draw against Centenary on Saturday.

Katie Voelkel earned a first place finish in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:14.59, and Brittany Maynard came in with a time of 1:06.23 to get first place points in the 100 freestyle. Sophie Garriga added a first place finish of her own, touching in 5:39.35 to win the 500 freestyle. Voelkel came in second in that event.

Garriga also had a second place finish in the 50 freestyle, coming in with a time of 27.35, while Sarah Edzards was second in the 1000 freestyle and Jennifer Liang was second in the 200 individual medley. Mary Cheadle had a pair of second place finishes, in the 100 and 200 freestyle events.

The 'Roos will now focus on training for the 2018 SCAC Championship, which takes place February 14-17 in The Colony.
