'Roo Women's Swimming Splits with Hendrix and Ozarks

CLARKSVILLE, Ark. - The Austin College women's swimming and diving team topped the University of the Ozarks 110-40 and fell to Hendrix College 151-55 on Friday evening in a double dual meet hosted by Ozarks, with Sophie Garriga establishing a new pool record in the 400 individual medley in the process.

Garriga took first place and set a new pool record with a time of 5:06.02 in the 400 IM, and added another first place finish in the 100 butterfly, touching in a time of 1:05.46. She also teamed with Sarah Edzards, Mary Cheadle, and Jennifer Liang to swim a meet-best 1:50.68 in the 200 free relay. The 'Roos also got a first place finish from Katie Voelkel, whose time of 2:11.70 edged out teammate Liang in the 200 freestyle. Liang finished that event with a time of 2:11.91.

Voelkel added a second place finish in the 500 freestyle, placing with a time of 6:00.73, and Edzards came in with a time of 12:49.35 to place second in the 1000 freestyle.
