'Roo Women Perform Well in Win over McMurry

The Austin College women's swimming and diving team put together a strong all-around performance to earn a 120-100 victory over visiting McMurry on Saturday in Hannah Natatorium.

After McMurry took first in the first two events of the meet, Sophie Garriga placed first in the 200 freestyle, coming in with a time of 2:08.93, and Katherine Tuttle and Margaux McCartney scored first and second place finishes in the 1-meter diving event. Tuttle posted a score of 193.30, while McCartney scored 189.40.

Garriga added another first place finish in the 100 butterfly, touching in a time of 1:05.90, and added yet another victory in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:54.50. That time was more than 13 seconds faster than the second place finisher. McCartney took first in the 3-meter diving event with a score of 186.55, with Tuttle taking second and scoring 180.55.

The 'Roos capped off the meet with a first place finish in the 200 freestyle relay, with the team of Tessa Olufosoye, Sarah Bates, Mary Cheadle, and Caitlyn Brugger coming in with a time of 2:10.52 to earn the 'Roos 11 points and secure the meet victory.
