'Roos Fall to St. Thomas to Close Out Season

SHERMAN, Texas - The Austin College women's soccer team saw its season come to a close on Tuesday night as the 'Roos were edged 2-1 by the University of St. Thomas. The 'Roos finish the year with an overall record of 4-14-1 and a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference mark of 1-7.

The 'Roos controlled possession for much of the game, but St. Thomas was first to strike when the Celts slipped a pass through the Austin College defense and Monica Stieh took advantage of a one-on-one situation with 'Roo keeper Meredith Harris to make it a 1-0 game in the 18th minute. That remained the score into the second half, and Austin College managed to square things up in the 55th minute when Taylor Dornseifer found the net from 20 yards out.

However, the Celts would tally just over 11 minutes later when Kelsie Droptini headed home a corner kick to make it 2-1, and Austin College was unable to counter in the game's final 25 minutes. Austin College held a 17-to-13 shot advantage in the game, and Harris finished with five saves for the 'Roos.
