'Roos Edged by Centenary

SHREVEPORT, La. - The Austin College women's soccer team fell 2-1 on the road at Centenary on Tuesday night, as the 'Roos came up short in their comeback bid. The 'Roos are now 0-7 overall and 0-3 in the SCAC.

After a scoreless first half that saw the Ladies (7-3 overall, 5-3 SCAC) out-shoot the 'Roos 9-1, Centenary broke through with the game's first goal in the 68th minute of action. The Ladies would add another goal just over four minutes later, with Emilee Byrd scoring what would prove to be the difference on a strike from 35 yards out. The 'Roos responded quickly, though, as Lina Cruz tallied in the 79th minute to cut the margin in half, and Austin College got multiple chances in the game's final minutes but were unable to equalize.

Austin College out-shot the Ladies 8-3 in the second half to make it a 12-9 edge in shots for Centenary in the game. Maya Erwin made five saves for Austin College, while Avery Sanderson made four stops for Centenary.
