'Roos Drop Non-Conference Match to UTD

SHERMAN, Texas –The University of Texas-Dallas scored six second half goals to pull away from the Austin College women's soccer team, handing the 'Roos an 8-0 loss on Tuesday night at the Dr. Jack R. Pierce Memorial Soccer Complex. The 'Ros are now 0-6 overall this season, while UTD is now 7-0.

The Comets got on the board early, as Melissa Fulfer put a shot into the upper right corner less than three minutes in to make it 1-0. That remained the score until the 38thminute, when Jala Tousant found the net on a breakaway to put the 'Roos down 2-0 heading into halftime. 

Rain Lybbert scored in the 51stminute, and three more Comet goals would follow over the next 10 minutes, including two more from Fulfer. Haley Ziomek scored in the 75thminute, and Claire Walker punched in a rebound in the 87thminute to make it an 8-0 final. The Comets out-shot the 'Roos 30-3 in the game, putting 17 shots on goal. Meredith Harris made nine saves for Austin College

The 'Roos get back into Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play on Friday when they host the University of Dallas under the lights at 8:00 p.m.

Austin College athletic teams participate as a member of the NCAA Division III and the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
