Women's Soccer Falls to McMurry

SHERMAN, Texas –The Austin College women's soccer team took an early lead against McMurry in the team's season opener, but the War Hawks scored four unanswered to hand the 'Roos a 4-1 loss on Friday evening at the Dr. Jack R. Pierce Memorial Soccer Complex.

First-year forward Catalina Canizalez needed less than three minutes to tally her first career goal, punching in a rebound just 2:44 into the match to give the 'Roos a 1-0 lead. However, McMurry would even things up four minutes later on a goal by Kate Holland, and the lead grew to 2-1 on a score by Tagan Hansen.

The margin would grow to 3-1 in the 61stminute on a goal by Sky Reynolds, and Reynolds would find the net again in the 76thminute to make it a 4-1 game. That's how things would end, as McMurry used a 21-to-6 shot advantage to control the action for most of the game.

Meredith Harris had seven saves for Austin College in the loss. The 'Roos return to the field on Sunday, when they host Sul Ross at 2:00 p.m.
