#TBT: Ashleigh Johnson Earns SCAC Defensive Player of the Year

The 2010 Austin College women's soccer team had an historic year defensively, surrendering just eight goals all season. One of the anchors of the defense that season was Ashleigh Johnson, who went on to be named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year.

Johnson, a native of Austin, teamed with goalkeeper Kaitlin Elledge to lead the best defense in the SCAC that season. The 'Roos had a team goals-against-average of just 0.46 while posting 10 shutouts as the team went 11-4-2. Johnson remains the only Austin College women's soccer players to have earned SCAC Player of the Year honors.

Johnson played in all 17 games that season, tallying a goal from her defensive position, and also played in all 18 of the team's games in 2009 when the 'Roos gave up only 16 goals. In her four years as a defender, Austin College surrendered just 52 goals in 72 matches.
