SHERMAN, Texas - Austin College assistant women's soccer coach Grace Sokolow has been selected for the NCAA Women Coaches Academy, the Alliance of Women Coaches has announced. Sokolow is one of fewer than 50 coaches from across all sports and NCAA Divisions to be picked for this prestigious experience.

The NCAA Women Coaches Academy is a 4-day educational training event that will take place from June 14-17 in Denver, and is designed to bolster a coach's ability and skillset to better improve both their personal and team success. The educational session that Sokolow is attending will be the 45th NCAA Women Coaches Academy session since its inception in 2003, with more than 1,650 coaches having participated in its history. The WCA takes coaches beyond the court or field, and teaches important concepts that extend "beyond the X's and O's in an environment that fosters inclusion across the sports community."

Sokolow will be entering her third year as the assistant coach of the 'Roo women's soccer team in 2018, having arrived to Sherman after serving as an assistant coach to both the boy's and girl's teams at her alma mater of Chaparral High School in Parker, Colorado. Sokolow is a graduate of Vassar College, where she was a four-year player and two-year starter on the women's soccer team. She also earned her master's degree in American Studies at Lehigh University, and a master's of social work from the University of Southern California. Sokolow also holds a United States Soccer Federation "D" License, is a member of United Soccer Coaches, the American Association of University Women, and serves as the advistor to Austin College's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
