Women's Soccer Drops Road Match at Southwestern

GEORGETOWN, Texas - The Austin College women's soccer team dropped a 1-0 match at Southwestern University on Friday, bringing the team's record to 3-9 overall and 2-5 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play this season.

Southwestern would get on the board early on, with Mady Akers finding the net in the 17th minute of action for what would prove to be the game-winner for the Pirates. The rest of the match became a defensive battle, with the 'Roos controlling much of the game but unable to find the net. Austin College held a 12-7 shot advantage, including 6-1 in shots on goal. However, the 'Roos were unable to break through and equalize.

The Pirates were able to clamp down defensively throughout the second half, limiting the 'Roos to just two shots in the game's final 30 minutes of action. Austin College will be looking to bounce back on Sunday when they head to Seguin to take on Texas Lutheran.
