TLU Blanks 'Roo Women 3-0

SHERMAN, Texas – Texas Lutheran tallied three times in the first half and the Austin College women's soccer team was unable to recover, falling 3-0 to the Bulldogs on Friday afternoon. The 'Roos are now 3-8-1 overall and 1-5-1 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play.

Texas Lutheran got on the board early with a goal in the 8th minute of action, and the score remained 1-0 until late in the half when Jaclyn Smolik tallied twice in less than three minutes. Smolik found the net in the 34th minute and again in the 37th minute to send the Bulldogs into halftime with a 3-0 edge on the 'Roos.

Austin College came out strong in the second half and controlled play for much of the second period, but the 'Roos were unable to find the net. Texas Lutheran held a 20-17 advantage in shots in the match, and Laura McGee made six saves for Austin College in the loss.

Austin College athletic teams participate as a member of the NCAA Division III and the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
