'Roo Women Edged by Texas Lutheran

SHERMAN, Texas – Texas Lutheran scored in the 9th minute of action and the Austin College women's soccer team was never able to find the equalizer, falling 1-0 to the Bulldogs on Sunday afternoon. The 'Roos fall to 2-5-1 overall and 1-2 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play with the defeat.

The Bulldogs found their one and only goal early when Aubrie Wells took a long pass and managed to beat Austin College keeper Laura McGee to the lower left side of the net to make it a 1-0 game just over eight minutes into the game. The 'Roos got a few solid opportunities to counter but were turned away as Texas Lutheran kept the pressure on through the rest of the game.

TLU used a 16-5 shot advantage to top the 'Roos, as McGee finished the game making five saves. TLU nearly added another goal in the second half, but 'Roo defender Erica Williams slid in front of a point blank shot just before it could cross the line to keep it a one score margin.

Austin College is on the road for its next six matches, starting with a trip to Schreiner University on Friday.

Austin College athletic teams participate as a member of the NCAA Division III and the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
