The Austin College women's soccer team made things interesting late but the 'Roos were unable to completely close the gap against the No. 24-ranked University of Texas-Tyler on Friday, falling 3-2 in the team's final home game of the year. The 'Roos are now 10-8 overall with one regular season match remaining this year.

Texas-Tyler grabbed an early lead thanks to a tally from Morgan Monzingo, who collected a through ball from Chestley Strother and finished in the 8th minute to make it 1-0. UT-Tyler kept the offensive pressure on but Austin College managed to pull even in the 33rd minute when Victoria Rutherford chipped a ball over UTT keeper Paige Harris, and Myranda Baumgartner pushed it into the back of the net to make it 1-1.

The Patriots would regain the lead in the 41st minute on a goal by Lindsey Halbrook to head into the break with a 2-1 edge, and the margin would grow to 3-1 early in the second half when Caroline Williams tallied in the 46th minute of action. Austin College would get a chance late as the 'Roos drew a penalty kick, with Anna Claire Cooke knocking it home for her first career goal in the 89th minute of action but the 'Roos were unable to equalize in the waning moments.

Laura McGee made 12 saves in her first career start in the net for  Austin College as UT-Tyler held a 31-6 shot advantage in the game.

Austin College athletic teams participate as a member of the NCAA Division III and the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
